OCDSB Student Recognition Awards

Q: What are the OCDSB Student Recognition Awards?
A: The OCDSB Student Recognition Awards is an annual event that recognizes one student from each secondary site for their outstanding endeavors in academics, arts, athletics, advocacy and fundraising.

Q: How many students are recognized?
A: Those being recognized represent students from all 26 high schools including Adult High School, 6 secondary alternate sites and 1 student who will receive the Excellence in Equity Award.

Q: When do they take place?
A: The date varies from year to year but they typically take place in late May or early June.

Q: Where do they take place?
A: The ceremony takes place at the Centurion Conference Centre on Colonnade Road.

Q: How are the students selected?
A: The students being recognized were chosen by their principals and or vice-principals in consultation with other staff because they demonstrated initiative and had the will to succeed and the commitment to achieve their personal best.

Q: What do the students win?
A: The students win a plaque and have their photo taken with the director and the chair of the board.
