Welcome to John McCrae Secondary School, home of the Bulldogs.

John McCrae Secondary School is a vibrant, energetic place with a dedicated staff committed to the success of all students. We believe that every student can learn and be successful and JMSS provides myriad opportunities for students to discover and foster their personal passions in the classroom and through extracurricular activities. We encourage all students to take an active role in their personal high school experience so as to make the best of their years at JMSS.

The following are the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board’s Exit Outcomes:

CHARACTERISTICS: Resilient; Globally Aware; Collaborative; Innovative/Creative; and Goal-oriented

SKILLS: Critical Thinkers, Effective Communicators, Academically Diverse, Digitally Fluent, Ethical Decision-makers

The staff of John McCrae Secondary School is committed to supporting all students in their journey towards developing these characteristics and skills which will ultimately serve them well  at JMSS and beyond. Staff have high expectations for students and students need to develop high expectations for themselves. Regular attendance, punctuality, good time management and respect for self and others will also assist students through this journey.

In my fifteen years with the OCDSB, I have worked in a variety of schools and roles. I am passionate about creating dynamic, challenging, and engaging learning opportunities that help all learners unlock their potential. As a student in High School and University, my experience was greatly enriched by participation in sports, visual art, and school clubs. I am thrilled to be at a school where there are so many amazing opportunities for students to explore their interests, meet new people, and get involved in the John McCrae Community.

Parental engagement is an essential component of student success. Communication and collaboration between parents and staff is important for student academic growth, and wellbeing. I encourage all parents to become active participants in your children’s education. Please feel free to contact any of your children’s teachers if you have any concerns. Similarly, I welcome the opportunity to speak to parents. If you have any concerns or questions, do not hesitate to contact me at 613-823-0367 (Ext: 150) or email me at [email protected]
